“Daddy, Are You In The Ground Or In The Sky?” wins the inaugural 500-Word NYC Midnight Fiction Challenge

From an original field of over 4,200 writers worldwide and after three writing challenges, we finally have a winner of the inaugural 500-word Fiction Challenge 2023! Congratulations to Leila Murton Poole (London, UK) for winning the competition with her final round story, “Daddy, Are You In The Ground Or In The Sky?” In the final round, Leila and 124 other writers were challenged to create a story no longer than 500 words based on a genre (Open), action (Warning), and object (a sealed envelope).
